Coporaque was during the time Inca pre and Inca a town of a lot of importance. The name of the district of Coporaque comes from two words Quechua qhoto (heap of corn) and rake (I siege where it is distributed), having as meaning "place where the corn" is distributed. In sum, the Incan empire established its political and administrative own organization in the Valley of Colca. The main curaca was named by the Inca. They were also given the beautiful daughters of the main caciques, as well as Indians for the war or to send them to other counties like mitimaes.
